Rishabh Pant could not deliver as a leader and frontline batter in his first year at LSG. Injuries to key
players, especially fast bowlers, made his job a lot tougher. This season, he has a fully fit squad at his
disposal that has been bolstered by the addition of old warhorse Mohammed Shami and Anrich Nortje.
Injury-prone pace sensation Mayank Yadav has worked hard on his fitness over the past 12 months, and
LSG would be hoping that he repays the strong faith that the franchise had reposed in him. After missing
IPL 2025 entirely, Mayank’s return is arguably LSG’s biggest storyline this season.
In batting, Pant is set to move up to the top order with Nicholas Pooran to follow at number four. The
overseas trio of Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran — who all crossed 400 runs last
season — remain LSG’s batting backbone. However, LSG’s Indian batters combined for only 835 runs all
of last IPL, a glaring weakness the management must address. One setback: LSG will be missing
Wanindu Hasaranga, who is yet to clear a fitness test by Sri Lanka Cricket.

DC will begin their campaign without star pacer Mitchell Starc, who is sidelined with shoulder and elbow
injuries. In his absence, Lungi Ngidi and Dushmantha Chameera will spearhead the pace attack, while the
spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel will be crucial in the middle overs.
Unlike LSG, DC have a strong middle order of Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, and David Miller — a
world-class trio capable of taking any attack apart. KL Rahul at the top adds class and experience. Auqib
Nabi, who has lit up the 2025-26 domestic season, is likely to make his IPL debut.
